ANNOUNCEMENT: Embassy to Close on Friday 1st Sept. for Muslim Feast Eid Al- Adha

Due to the celebration of the Muslim Feast of Eid Al- Adha (The Feast of Sacrifice), the Embassy will be closed on Friday 1st September 2017.

The embassy will re-open its doors on Monday 4th September 2017.

According to the Muslim doctrine, Eid al-Adha, also called the “Feast of Sacrifice”, is the second of two Muslim holidays celebrated worldwide each year, and considered the holier of the two.

It honors the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismaeel, as an act of obedience to God’s command. Before he sacrificed his son, it is said that God intervened by sending his angel Jibra’il (Gabriel), who then put a ram in his son’s place.
