Cameroonians Express New Year Wishes to Ambassador Mrs. Melono

Cameroonians and friends of Cameroon last Friday 27 January 2012 expressed their New Year wishes to the Cameroonian head of Mission to the Netherlands and Luxemburg, Her Excellency Mrs. Odette Melono. The event took place at the Cameroonian Embassy in The Hague.

The list of invitees included prominent Cameroonians; representatives of Cameroonian Associations and organizations in the Netherlands as well as non Cameroonians described as ‘friends of Cameroon’.

The ceremony began with the singing of the National Anthem in both English and French followed by a prayer by Dutch Rev. Pastor Hans Hafkens.

Speaking to her guests, H.E Mrs. Melono gave a resume of the memorable events of 2011. These included among others; the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of re-unification and most significantly the organization of presidential elections in both the Netherlands and Luxemburg. These events, Ambassador Melono reminded, were executed with great success. The successes of 2011 she insisted couldn’t have come about without the sacrifice, cooperation and devotion of Cameroonians. For this she thanked all Cameroonians who assisted and supported the Embassy to smoothly overcome these challenges.

2011 Mrs. Melono continued had its challenges as well. Much, she added, has been learnt from these challenges and therefore will be very much considered in the year 2012 to assure more improved services were applicable.

Ambassador Mrs. Melono also expressed very warm appreciation for the embassy staff who under her tenure have exercised much professionalism in the execution of their duties.

After her brief address, she proposed a New Year toast. This was followed by refreshments. The ceremony rounded up at 21:00pm.
