Embassy & Cameroonian Community Announce the Death of Popular Cameroonian: Mama Anastasia

The Cameroonian community in The Netherlands and the Cameroonian Embassy announce the passing unto glory of fellow Cameroonian Mama Mayangaroh Anastasia E.A.Velders. She passed away while visiting Cameroon from the Netherlands to assist in the burial of her son-in-law’s father.

The Cameroonian Embassy was present at the wake keeping and duly represented by the Chargé d’affaires H.E Mrs. Halima Fonda. Speaking on behalf of the Embassy, Mrs. Fonda extended her condolence to the bereaved family and expressed regret for the untimely passing of a lady so known and loved. She also offered words of encouragement and support, emphasizing that the passing of Mama Anastasia has been felt by all and that her sudden death has created a massive vacuum.

Mama Anastasia was an icon and “a baobab” in the Cameroonian community in the Netherlands. For years her dynamism and love brought people together. This was evident by the massive presence at her wake keeping attended by about 10 notables and about 400 mourners from all around the globe. This was regarded as a clear testimony of her love and an illustration of her importance.
