Embassy to Close on Monday 12th & Thursday 15th August due to Religious Public Holidays

On Monday 12th August, Cameroonian Muslim join fellow Muslims to celebrate Eid al-Adha, also called the “Festival of the Sacrifice”, and popularly known in Cameroon as the “fête du mouton”. Eid al-Adha is the second of two Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year and considered the holier of the two. It honours the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command.

● Thursday 15th August 2019

On Thursday 15th August 2019, Cameroonian Roman Catholics join Catholics around the world to commemorate Assumption of Mary or Assumption Day.

According to Catholic doctrine, Assumption Day is the day in Roman Catholic tradition when Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, was taken body and soul up into heaven. It is celebrated on 15 August each year and is a Holy Day of Obligation for Catholics.

The Embassy will remain open on the following days in between:

  • Tuesday 13th August
  • Wednesday 14th August
  • Friday 16th August
