Program of OPCW Director General Amb. Ahmet Üzümcü’s Visit to Cameroon

The Director-General of the Organisation for The Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Ambassador Ahmet Üzümcü was in Cameroon from the 12th to 13th of September 2017. During his visit, he was received by the Prime Minister of Cameroon Philemon Yang and other senior Government officials.

– 18.30 Arrival by flight SN BRUSSELS at the Yaoundé Nsimalen airport

Welcome by the Secretary General of the Ministry of External Relations (MINREX), Ambassador of Cameroon to the Netherlands, Ambassador of Turkey to Cameroon. Mr. ÜZÜMCÜ was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Bob FAIRWEATHER, a British national.

– 19.30pm Arrival at the Yaoundé Hilton Hotel

Wednesday, 13 September 2017

– 8:30-9:00am Address by Mr. Ahmet ÜZÜMCÜ to the OPCW Regional Forum at Hotel La Falaise.

– 9.30-10.30am Audience at the Ministry of External Relations.

– 11.00-12.30am Conference at the Institute of International Relations of Cameroon in the presence of the Diplomatic Corps on “The Chemical Weapons Convention, Implementation and considerations in Africa”.

– 13.00-14.00 Working lunch at the Hilton Hotel with government officials and the Diplomatic Corps. The Cameroonian delegation included: Minister of External Relations H.E Mbella Mbella; Minister of State in charge of Justice, H.E. Mr. Laurent Esso; the Minister in charge of Defence at the Presidency of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Joseph Beti Assomo; the Minister of Finance, H.E. Mr. Alamine Ousmane Mey; the Minister Delegate in charge of Islamic Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Adoum Gargoum and H.E. Ambassador Mrs. Odette Melono, Permanent Representative of Cameroon to the OPCW.

The Diplomatic Corps represented included: Ambassadors from France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, China, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Algeria, Morocco, South Africa and Turkey. The representatives of the African Union, the European Union and the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations system were also invited.

– 14.30-16.00pm Hearing at the Presidency of the Republic

– 17.00pm Departure from the Hilton Hotel for Yaoundé Nsimalen Airport Accompanied by the MINREX Director of Protocol and Consular Affairs.

– 19.40 Departure of the Director-General by flight SN BRUSSELS 372.
