Pres. Biya Signs Decree, Ordering Commission of Inquiry as Cameroon Mourns 90


25/10/2016_ The Head of State, H.E President Paul Biya has signed a Presidential decree (Decree No. 2016/424 of 25 October 2016) setting up a commission of inquiry into the Camrail train derailment that took place in Eseka on Friday 21st October 2016.

So far 90 persons are reported dead and more than 500 injured.

H.E Paul Biya: Head of State of the Republic of Cameroon

The commission is expected to:

1. Determine the cause of the accident and propose ways of avoiding a similar occurrence

2. Identify those responsible for the accident

3. Assess the management of the catastrophy

The Commission is headed by the Prime Minister of the Republic.

Its members are;

-The Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals 

-The Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation 

-The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of State Control

-The Secretary of State for Defense charge of the Gendarmerie

-The Delegate General in charge of National Security 

-The Permanent Secretary of the National Security Council.

The decree was signed this Tuesday 25th October 2016
